Sepp Maier’s Vast Knowledge Of Body Language (giclee print)

£75.00

2012. 30cm x 40cm giclee print

I had perused Goethe’s thoughts on anatomy
and studied at the Max Planck Institute,
read about Blumer’s symbolic interaction theory
and Mehrabian’s thoughts on non-verbal communication.
Yet when Anton Penenka came to take the last spot kick
I could have sworn he was going to try
and belt
it into the top corner.

In the way that sometimes films get novelised, this is an old illustration that’s been paintingised [barks at PA – “Get that word copyrighted NOW!”]. Or is it called reverse engineering? Anyway, the original was drawn in Flash then exported to (drones on for hours about technical details) and appeared in a fancy When Saturday Comes calendar for the start of 2004.

For this painted version I’ve used my scratchy technique on the underpainting in an attempt to replicate the effect of Sepp Maier’s hair.
